The rapid economic growth also led to the rapid growth of the population. Now... Penggaram is the second largest town in the state of Johor after Johor Bahru (Tanjung Puteri). Previously... the second largest town in the state of Johor was Muar (Maharani) but Penggaram had surpassed Maharani as the second largest town in the state of Johor after Tanjung Puteri. Even Kluang (Mengkibol) has also surpassed Maharani as the third largest town in the state of Johor.
